  • Summarize the scope of IV infusion errors that continue to occur despite the use of smart infusion pumps.
  • Describe the components and advantages of integrated infusion management for the benefit of patient safety and workflow efficiency.
  • Outline the elements necessary for successful standardization of drug nomenclature and formulary adjustments in advance of pump integration.
  • Discuss challenges that hospitals may face after smart infusion pump integration with the EHR.
  • Examine some of the strategies used during successful auto-programming of IV infusion devices.
