The Prevention Course in Healthcare-Associated Infection Knowledge and Control (Prevention CHKC) is supported in full by an educational grant from Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) and developed independently by SHEA.
Infection prevention and control initiatives work to prevent the spread of infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria, reduce the need for antibiotics and help curb the emergence of antibiotic resistance. Minimizing risk of community and healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) to patients and staff is an urgent need.
To reinforce appropriate infection prevention and control behaviors, SHEA and BD are pleased to announce the launch of the Prevention Course in HAI Knowledge and Control (Prevention CHKC). This online course has been developed with front line staff in mind. Consisting of concise, half-hour long modules, course participants will review the fundamentals of infection prevention, review best practices for the prevention of device-and pathogen-associated infections and improve understanding of disinfection and sterilization procedures.
To register, please visit www.PreventionCHKC.org. Participants are encouraged to use code BDAccess when registering.
Prevention CHKC is intended for frontline healthcare personnel, defined for the purposes of this course as individuals in healthcare facilities who are “responsible for direct patient care.” This can include doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, and others involved in supporting infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship programs.
