BD update on Axeda agent

This bulletin provides technical security information, recommendations and upgrade options for customers with the legacy Axeda agent installed.

BD was recently made aware of suspicious outbound network traffic associated with an expired domain from some legacy CareFusion devices that have the Axeda agent installed.

A technical review determined the Axeda agent pointed to a Cardinal Health domain,, which expired and was then purchased by what may be a malicious group affiliated with distribution of malware ( There has been no indication of any inbound traffic to BD devices and no reports of any customer device operation being affected.

BD has resolved the issue with the domain service provider and DNS traffic now points to the correct BD-owned domain. Additionally, BD will silently remove the legacy Axeda software during an unscheduled release, as it is no longer needed to provide remote service.
