More than 125 years ago, Maxwell Becton and Fairleigh Dickinson set out to revolutionize medical care with better tools for doctors. They chose New Jersey as the place to bring that vision to life – not just for its location, but for its people. New Jerseyans don’t just show up – they roll up their sleeves, tackle challenges head-on and make things happen. It’s this spirit that has fueled BD’s progress since the very beginning.  

Today, that same drive lives on at our global headquarters in Franklin Lakes, N.J, where our nearly 2,500 New Jersey employees help bring our mission to life every day. Our home after all these years, Franklin Lakes remains the heart of a worldwide enterprise that is shaping healthcare as one of the world’s largest medical technology companies.  It is here that innovation, strategy and impact come together to drive BD’s global operations which produce more than 37 billion devices annually, serve 200 countries and are powered by over 70,000 employees worldwide.

Our employees are deeply involved in the communities where they live and work –  volunteering with local nonprofits, supporting STEM education, stocking food banks, cleaning up the environment and partnering with schools, hospitals and public health organizations across the state.   • Difference a Day Makes

    In May 2025, 50 BD employees joined BD’s  “Difference in a Day” volunteer consulting marathon. Supported by Taproot, which links nonprofits with skilled volunteers, they helped 9 nonprofits solve real operational challenges.

  • Rise Against Hunger

    Each year on MLK Day and beyond, BD associates in Franklin Lakes and worldwide pack meals for Rise Against Hunger. In 2025 alone, BD helped provide 405,864 meals to support global food security and fight hunger.

  • Card Image

    Each year, our New Jersey employees pack nearly 1,000 clean birthing kits with MedShare. These kits, with items like sterile blades and cord clamps, help reduce maternal and infant mortality in underserved areas and save lives during childbirth.

  • Hackensack River Keeper

    In partnership with Hackensack River Keeper, BD associates help clean local waterways. Most recently, the team removed 287 pounds of trash from Woodcliff Lake, NJ.

  • MEVO

    Our New Jersey employees volunteer with MEVO, a local group that grows vegetables to support food access. They tend the farm, sell produce at Ramsey Farmers Market and donate some harvest to food security groups.

    In partnership with Family Promise of Bergen County,  BD employees generously volunteer their time to serve meals, providing support and nourishment to Bergen County residents who are facing food insecurity.
