This notification provides product security information and recommendations related to Microsoft’s decision to end support for the Windows 7 Operating System. BD previously communicated that Microsoft would end support for the Windows 7 Operating System (OS) in a bulletin published in March 2019 (Windows 7 Operating System End of Life). The purpose of this updated bulletin is to inform our customers about which upgrade path is applicable to each product.
Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 Operating System on January 14, 2020, Windows Embedded Standard 7 Service Pack 1 on October 13, 2020, and Extended Security Updates for Windows Embedded Standard 7 on October 10, 2023. As a result, Microsoft no longer provides security updates or support for devices running the referenced operating systems.
The BD products listed below have been identified as having a Windows 7 Operating System (OS) and are impacted by Microsoft’s decision to end support. While Microsoft's decision to end its support of the Windows 7 Operating System (OS) is outside of our control, this will directly impact BD devices that have not been transitioned to supported platforms.
This means BD will no longer provide any Windows 7 OS-related support, such as “Critical” and “Important” security updates as defined by the Microsoft Security Response Center, warranty-covered support, extended-support, technical support, or service support. BD may provide limited hardware and device repair services subject to the availability of spare parts and software compatibility.

This is not a comprehensive list. Contact your BD service representative for further details if you have a BD product running on an operating system that has been subject to an EOL determination (e.g., Windows 7). Your BD service representative can assist with potential upgrade options and timelines.
The availability of a Windows 10 Operating System may not apply to all customers or BD products and may incur additional costs based on individual customer contracts.

Windows 10 Upgrade Path
- Product configurations will vary. As such, not all configurations are eligible for a Windows 10 OS upgrade and may require a hardware and software upgrade to be eligible and compatible with the Windows 10 operating system. BD may elect to provide extended support for hardware components beyond the end of support date originally provided by Microsoft, or end support for selected BD products due to their legacy components. Contact your BD service representative for further details regarding your products and potential upgrade options and timelines.
No Windows 10 Upgrade Path Available
- Contact your BD service representative for further details if you have a BD product running on an operating system that does not have a Windows 10 upgrade path available. BD may recommend that products that do not have a Windows 10 upgrade path and are owned be decommissioned, while BD devices that are leased may be subject to repossession. BD may provide limited hardware and device repair services subject to the availability of spare parts and software compatibility. Contact your BD service representative for further details regarding your products and potential upgrade options and timelines.
