Denise Russell Fleming serves as executive vice president and chief information officer. Fleming is responsible for leading all aspects of BD’s IT systems and processes, digital strategy, data, AI, cybersecurity, and the enterprise program management office. She is also a member of the BD Executive Leadership Team.
Fleming joined BD from Boeing, where she was the vice president of IT and CIO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, responsible for driving innovative digital solutions, cybersecurity compliance and managing the value delivery of IT systems for 30,000 Boeing associates. Prior to Boeing, Fleming held several positions at Sprint before joining BAE Systems, Inc. as Vice President, Business Technology & Application Solutions. She has more than 30 years of experience in IT, business transformation, and technology solutions.
Fleming earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia; a Master of Business Administration degree from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business; and received an Advanced General Manager’s Program certificate from INSEAD Business School in France.
Fleming was elected to the board of directors of Parker Hannifin, a Fortune 250 global leader in motion and control technologies, in October 2023. Denise is an NACD Certified Director. She is also a member of the Executive Leadership Council, where she serves on the board of directors and the IT Advisory Committee. As an executive member of the IT Senior Management Forum, she mentors high potential talent selected for leadership development programs.
Fleming received the 2025 Technology Executive of the Year Award from ITSMF, Career Achievement Award at the 2022 BEYA Conference, and was also recognized by Women in Tech Top 100 in 2025 and 2026. She has been featured in various publications including Forbes, CIO.com, Diversity Woman Magazine, US Black Engineer & IT Magazine, and Savoy.
