Executive Vice President and Chief Integrated Supply Chain Officer
Massimiliano (Max) Urbini serves as executive vice president and chief integrated supply chain officer, with global responsibility for leading our Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, Lean & Operational Excellence, and Environmental, Health & Safety and Sustainability teams. He is also a member of the BD Executive Leadership Team, and he is based in Switzerland.
Urbini most recently served as Senior Vice President of Operational Performance, where he drove major advancements in operational excellence, innovation and the transformation of our manufacturing network.
Urbini joined BD in 2021 as Vice President of Operational Excellence, where he led the design, launch and global implementation of BD Excellence, the company’s lean operating system. In this role, he drove continuous improvement across the end-to-end supply chain, accelerating savings, improving productivity, strengthening line efficiency and establishing a more resilient risk management model for Integrated Supply Chain.
Before joining BD, Urbini had multiple cross-sector Executive roles in Manufacturing and Supply Chain in Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Consumer Electronics and Automotive. He served as Operational Excellence Leader at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health and Unilever. Earlier in his career, he spent 13 years in the automotive industry, beginning at Ferrari Maserati and later holding multiple leadership roles at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
Urbini holds an Executive MBA from ESCP Business School in Paris, a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from La Sapienza University in Rome, and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Perugia.
