Ronald (Ron) Silverman, MD, FACS

Ronald (Ron) Silverman, MD, FACS, serves as executive vice president, chief medical and regulatory officer. In this expanded role, Dr. Silverman leads the company’s medical and regulatory affairs organizations helping ensure that every innovation, new product expansion and customer support effort are guided by both scientific excellence and regulatory rigor. He is a member of the BD Executive Leadership Team.

Dr. Silverman has three decades of experience working across clinical practice, academic research and industry roles. Prior to joining BD, he served as senior vice president and chief medical officer for 3M Health Care and led Medical and Clinical Affairs teams for multiple business units within 3M. Previously, he was chief of plastic surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He continues to hold academic appointments at both the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins schools of medicine and is on the advisory board for the University of Maryland Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the Clark School of Engineering.

Dr. Silverman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland and trained in surgery and plastic surgery with Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital. He is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery.
