Overview

Guidewires are intended to provide access and facilitate passage of endourological instrumentation during urological procedures in patients as determined by physicians. The NiCore™ Nitinol Guidewire consists of a kink resistant, nickle-titanium (Nitinol) wire that is jacketed with a thermoplastic polymer. The outermost surface of the guidewire is indicated to provide transurethral and/or percutaneous access into the bladder, ureter and renal pelvis. The NiCore™ Nitinol Guidewire is offered in many different configurations that include sizes (lengths and diameters), tip designs and stiffness.

Features and Benefits
  • The NiCore™ Guidewires are built for both sturdiness and flexibility, enhancing torque control and navigation during use.
  • The NiCore™ Nitinol Guidewire consists of a 150cm kink resistant nickel-titanium (Nitinol) wire that fulfills the stiffness requirement for navigating and guiding devices through complex anatomy.
  • The Nitinol alloy exhibit excellent biocompatibility, kink resistance and shape memory properties where wire returns to original shape after deformation at body temperature.
  • The Nitinol wire is jacketed in a thermoplastic polymer. Tungsten filler is added to polymer to impart radiopacity and enable mechanical strength to the extruded jacket.
  • The outermost surface of the guidewire is covered in a multi-layered hydrophilic coating which increase lubricity, improve access, and reduce friction, thus allowing the wire to move smoothly through the catheter or stent.
  • The guidewires are available in the following configurations: NiCore™ Straight Tip, NiCore™ Angled Tip, and NiCore™ Benston Tip.
